Kureepuzha Juma Masjid

Kureepuzha, the most beautiful and spectacular village, Surmounted it’s three sides by the winsome AstamudiLake, lies like a greenish peninsula. The subjects of this beautiful village falls in different castes and creed, once led a peaceful and harmonious life in tune with it’s nature and beauty. They still keep alive the mentality of love, fellow- feeling and mutual trust that suit the meaning of the name Kureepuzha . This land which locates by the lake side enjoys ecstasy of  its cool breeze was once the abode of Sparrows. The presence of the Sparrows and the beautiful background of the lake paved the way for winning  a delightful name for this Village, Kuruvipuzha. In the passage of time this sweet name  was happened to be briefed and came to be called Kureepuzha.

This village that lies very close to Kollam city is far a head in literacy rate. It's cultural and educational excellence is really enviable. It is graced with the presence of noble centres of  education that functions in Ultramodern style,Libraries,Hospitals,Study circles, I.T centre's and all sorts of cultural and athletic organizations . Above all the excellence and reputation of this rustic land is heightened by the remarkable contributions made by the inhabitants who have been working in different walks of life as Writers, Engineers, Teachers, Students, Scientists, Political activists and Construction workers etc..

The centre’s of worship of all religious categories, reverberate the voice of secularism, locate here as the heart throbbing of this village folk. The sanctified voice of conch rises from temples, the sermons of love resounds from churches and the holy voice of Baanku comes from the saintly abode of  ‘Allah’ , the saviour of the world, are received by the people of this village with equa spiritual fervour and respect . ‘‘Sabarimala’’ stands out of doubt as a symbol of religious tolerance. The ‘Pettah thullal’ in front of ‘Vavar swami’ is very popular. Every year the ‘Pettah thullal’ of  ‘Ayyankoikal temple’ which is believed to have the presence of Sabarimala sastha, gets started in front of kureepuzha Juma masjid. It is so because the Hindu brothers believe the presence of Vavarswami in this famous mosque. This belief itself can be regarded as a clear proof of religious tolerance. The sight of witnessing and participating in the pettah thullal ceremony by people falls in different religious  groups,is certainly a spectacular one.
